Sri Lanka is a small island with lots to offer.  The hospitality, sights, food, friendly people and tropical vibes will make you want to return again and again.

Here are some basic travel tips to keep in mind:

Travel between places can take a long time, even short distances – so don’t plan too many things around the country in a short time.  There are a few highways and regional airports, but much of the island is still sing lane roads.

Investigate what time of year suits each area as there are different monsoon seasons.

Take plenty of repellent and loose fitting clothes as it can be hot and humid.  With that said, the ‘up country’ climate is cooler so pack accordingly.

Cover up and remove your shoes when visiting temples and religious sites.

Before you go check if you need a visa and apply for it online.
